Since the past January, the Christmas Bazaar Committee has been very busy making items for our upcoming November Christmas Bazaar. We meet every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM (except during the month of December) in the social hall of the church and anyone who likes to do any sort of crafting is welcome to join our group. This past year has been very good and, true to our mission of service to our church and community, since last Fall we have been able to contribute the following financial help and purchase items as follows: - Paid for all active SS teachers and children to attend the Mazeilla Maze - Purchased two artificial Christmas trees for the sanctuary - $200 to Slater Family Network for food for needy families for Christmas - $200 to Santa’s Elves for Christmas shopping for local children in need - Our Sunday School children were each invited to choose an ornament from our holiday trees, as well as shopping in our white-elephant items - White elephant items remaining after our bazaar were given to the EB Vol. Fire Co. for their “bag shopping” day - Purchased the 2015 calendars (magnetic) which were handed out in December - Gave $600 towards church heating bill - Mother’s Day flowers for each mother present at church on Mother’s Day - Father’s Day gift for each father present at church on Father’s Day - Gave financial scholarships to SS children who attended Church Camp - Purchased slate Christmas ornaments commemorating our church’s 150th Anniversary As we are fast approaching this year’s November bazaar date, we are requesting that anyone who has any “white elephant” items or new homemade craft items (knit, crocheted, etc.) to donate please contact one of the bazaar committee members or drop items off in the social room downstairs on any Thursday evening. We will be having new Christmas Bazaar hours this year – Friday, November 20th - 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday, November 21st - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Homemade soup, sandwiches, crafts, bake sale, large white elephant sale, estate jewelry and drawing daily. Also, please note that we now have many nice Fall items on display in our Bazaar Store in the social hall.

Our driveway off of Route 512 is quite narrow, and we’ve had some “close calls,” with folks trying to go out as others are coming in. The Board of Trustees is recommending that we move forward with a “one way” traffic pattern, with the drive off of Route 512 being an entrance only, and the drive to Railroad Avenue serving as the exit. It is understood that this may cause some inconvenience, but we are asking that folks give it a try out of safety concerns.
It’s a little early to be thinking of cold and snow, but kids grades 3 through 6 might want to be thinking about Pocono Plateau’s Winter Jamboree, Tuesday, December 29 – Thursday, December 31. This is a great event to shake off the winter blahs and combine, fun, adventure, and bible study. The cost is just $89.00 and scholarship funds are available. Visit www.poconoplateau.org or talk to Pastor Dave for more information.
Our 2015 Charge Conference will be held on Sunday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bangor. Voting is limited to members of the charge (essentially Ad Council), but all are welcome to provide input.
We are getting pretty close to having to cap out reservations for the Anniversary Sunday luncheon. If you wish to attend please be sure to let us know by this Sunday.
The youth of our church have been invited to join in with Ackermanville UMC’s youth for some combined activities.
