It’s time to put the Summer season away with a special celebration of what it means when we’re the Church. Join us for worship at 9:10 for a pre-service hymn-sing, followed by worship. Pastor Dave will preach from the Epistle to the Galatians as we salute our church family! Don’t forget after church fellowship as a time to continue our joyous life together as the people of God!

While Executive Chef Dr. Roger Schwartz and Pastor Dave have engaged in a bloody face-off over the proper pronunciation of “potato,” they do agree on one thing – that potatoes are nutritious, delicious, and fun! So September’s free community dinner will feature a baked-potato bar with more toppings than Moses had commandments! Please see Roger to volunteer your help for this very special spud spectacular!! And please (Pastor Dave is being really serious here) come out and eat and fellowship with our neighbors.
Carol Olzinski, Administrator of Methodist Services for Children and Families in Bangor will be our guest preacher for Rally Day Worship on September 7. Make this the day you commit once again to support the church by your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness! Let’s work for a good turnout for Rally Day!
It’s back to school time for many of our districts, and we’ll be sending our students off into the new academic year by blessing them (and their backpacks!) We’ll also be praying for all of those who work in the school systems. Our message on Matthew 16:13 – 20 will be about a different kind of education – telling the stories of Jesus! Please join us in support of our students!!
We finished up our Summer sermon series on the early church as found in the Acts of the Apostles with the story of Paul’s supernatural and radical conversion experience. Many thanks to Dan Wilkins for providing our special music with a rendition of the beloved Spiritual, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”
September 29/October 1 – Bible Study resumes as we pick up the Acts of the Apostles and move from Paul’s conversion experience through his increasing influence on what we now know as the Christian faith.
Choir Practice resumes Thursday, September 3. The first Sunday the choir will sing during worship is September 14. Please consider making a commitment to this important music ministry!! See Matt Krauss or Pastor Dave for more information.
Mark you calendars for Rally Day Sunday September 7th. We will welcome guest preacher, Carol Olzinski from Methodist Services for Children and Families. Sunday Schools kicks off at 10:30am with games and refreshments. Then we close out the day with our monthly FREE Community Dinner.
We conclude our series on the early church as found in the Acts of the Apostles with the conversion of Saul the arrogant persecutor of the followers of Jesus, and his anointing as Paul, the apostle who would carry the Gospel to beyond the Jewish enclaves and into the gentile world. Dan Wilkins will provide special music for worship.
The martyrdom of Stephen might be one of the most repulsive stories in the New Testament. Come out this Sunday as we celebrate one man’s courage – at all costs – in the face of those who would keep the status quo. And, as the last stone is being hurled at his lifeless body, see who seems to be watching with a sense of glee!!
