We are looking for new folks to serve as greeters and ushers, as well as to relieve Rich Kern of his every week duty with the stair-chair. PLEASE use the sign-up sheets to volunteer as a greeter or usher, and see Rich for instructions on the stair chair. If you have questions on greeting or ushering, please talk to Kevin Hower.

Our monthly free community dinner will be this coming Sunday. We will need assistance in set-up, serving, clean-up, and EVANGELISM. Even if you don’t care for Italian Sausage, come on out and sit at table with our neighbors, letting them know how we value them as a part of our community, and sharing with them other opportunities in the life of our church.
Our brothers and sisters at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield Township will be hosting an interfaith prayer service onThursday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. It would be good for us to have some representation at this event as we seek to build more harmonious relationships with those of different faith traditions.
As a part of our sesquicentennial, we are producing a new photo directory. This will be done in-house, and you will not have to try to wind your way through a field of ravenous wolf-like creatures who are hell-bent on selling you more photographs than you could ever possibly need for dollars that you can probably put to better use. Please look for details in the May Newsletter, or hit up Matt Krause for more information.
It’s time to begin planning for our 2015 Vacation Bible School. Please let Pastor Dave or Kevin Hower know if you are willing to help. Once we know who is interested in helping, we will select our dates.
Alice Brickler is starting to put together our Annual Memorial Day Service to be held at East Bangor Cemetery (or our sanctuary in case of rain). If you can volunteer to help out hauling supplies, setting up the tent or sound system, please let Alice know.
We’re going to be receiving new members on May 17. Please see Pastor Dave if you would like to discuss becoming a full member of East Bangor United Methodist Community Church.
Our 2015 Eastern Pennsylvania Mission U (formerly known as the School for Christian Missions) will be held July 24 – 26 at the Inn at Reading, in Reading, PA. The theme for this year is “Learning Together for the Transformation of the World.” Participants are invited to select from three available focus areas:
Spiritual Growth: Created for Happiness: Understanding Your Life in God Geographic: Latin America: People and Faith Issue Study: The Church and People with Disabilities This annual event is part of the outreach mission and ministry of United Methodist Women and is open to anyone who wishes to participate. For more information, visit the Conference website at www.epaumc.org and click on the events calendar. Or, if you’d like to learn more about making Mission U part of your personal discipleship growth, see Pastor Dave to hear more. Our area United Methodist Camps are gearing up for a great selection of opportunities for our children. A variety of types of camps, all Christ-centered, begin in June and go through the second week of August. Our camps provide a significant experience for our young people and offer a solid foundation for a Christ-centered, fruitful, and spiritually grounded life.
To find out about the opportunities available, visit the camp websites. Pocono Plateau, www.poconoplateau.org; Camp Innabah (which, among other things, boasts Pastor Dave as a distinguished alumni), www.innabah.org; and Gretna Glen, www.gretnaglen.org. Or see Pastor Dave for an overview of the offerings. Please do not let financial considerations get in the way of giving your child an experience that will inform them for the rest of your lives. Let us know if you need some assistance for the camp tuition and we’ll do all that we can to help out! The Anniversary Committee is looking for some volunteers to serve as “History Detectives.” We’d like to have some folks willing to dig up some of our important historical events, as well as interviewing long-term members to record their memories of years past. Please let Ad Council chair Jane Newton know if you are willing to help. The next Anniversary Committee Meeting is April 21 at 7:00 p.m., and you are invited to join us.
